We're helping Massachusetts go solar.

The Bay State has tremendous solar potential, and solar is on the rise—since 2008, solar power in the commonwealth has increased 24-fold. We believe Massachusetts can get 10 percent of our energy from the sun by 2030. That's why we launched a grassroots campaign to help the state go solar. And in 2012, thanks in large part to our efforts, the Massachusetts state Senate voted to expand the state's most successful solar program. Now, we're making sure the House does the same—ensuring that solar will continue to grow here in Massachusetts.

Environment Massachusetts Warns That Buzzards Bay Is At Risk of Increased Pollution

[Boston, MA]— Streams and wetlands in Massachusetts are at risk of increased pollution, according to a report released today by Environment Massachusetts, Courting Disaster: How the Supreme Court Has Broken the Clean Water Act and Why Congress Must Fix It. One case study highlighted in this report is a wetland area around Buzzards Bay that is at risk of loosing Clean Water Act protections. The report also provides 30 case studies demonstrating how the federal Clean Water Act is broken and calling on Representative Capuano to fix it.

Report finds 15 percent drop in beach closings in Massachusetts

A new report by the National Resources Defense Council gives reason for optimism about the quality of beaches in Massachuetts.

 “Testing The Waters: A Guide to Water Quality at Vacation Beaches,” found a 15 percent drop in beach closings fin 2010 and that projects such as the Massachusetts Water Resources Authority’s opening of a recent storage tunnel  in South Boston are contributing to the improvement.
