We helped halt logging that threatened our drinking water.

More than 2 million Massachusetts residents enjoy some of the cleanest, purest drinking water in the country thanks to the foresight of state officials who set aside the forestland surrounding the Quabbin Reservoir as a natural buffer zone against pollutants. In 2010, when logging around the Quabbin threatened our drinking water, we talked to more than 100,000 people, with at least 14,000 submitting public comments in opposition. In response, Gov. Deval Patrick declared a moratorium on the logging around the Quabbin. And in 2012, we mobilized support for a permanent ban.
