BOSTON – Environment Massachusetts Research & Policy Center submitted comments today advising regulators on how to implement a new state law establishing a public right to know about sewage pollution in our waterways.

In January, Gov. Charlie Baker signed a bill requiring public notification when sewage is discharged into rivers and coastal waters. The Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection has issued draft regulations laying out the notification process when sewage spills occur, and held hearings to gather public comments.
